The Big Smoke and The NEC

Posted by Kirsten Bridge on

February is progressing at lightening speed with our final Spring-Summer sourcing taking place at the NEC's Spring Fair this week.

It is fair to say this is not our preferred trade event, having none of the quirky charm of Harrogate and few of the brand new designers that are attracted to Top Drawer, but we were delighted to meet several new faces to the area of design-led giftware and we are very much looking forward to adding their gorgeous creations to our ranges over the forthcoming months.

We have an "almost famed" love of chatting, and catching up with some of designers that we have existing relationships with is always such a pleasure, whether to view their new ranges or simply hear their own news and views. One of my personal favourites is Nicky Thomson, a lady so bursting with life and ideas that you cannot fail to want to show her products to customers. Nicky's fabulous creations  include our best-selling ladies accessories and we will shortly be adding her British produced home textiles. We hope that the unmistakable quirky style, gentle colour palette and finest materials will delight existing fans and new converts alike!

Our shop is taking shape with the final interior design decisions being completed. With our commitment to selling only British designed goods, the challenge and opportunity this creates is so exciting both for our team and, we hope, for our future customers.

This month, inspiration has arrived from so many unexpected areas and individuals, with, perhaps the highlight being attending the Red Magazine Networking Event at The Hospital Club in London. Amazing speakers including luxury fragrance brand creator Jo Malone and Sarah Curran, CEO of My-Wardrobe.com ensured ideas were flowing around the room, along with the belief that "anything is possible", particularly with a glass of champagne to accompany brainstorming!

So now off to formalise some of those ideas into plans and lists (and I do like a list), and the positive progress towards Spring.

Have a inspiring February... the month of planning!

Kirsten x
